BiographyEric Terwilliger was born 1954 in Bloomington / Indiana (USA) and started his horn study with 18 at Philip Farkas at the Indiana University in Bloomington.
1975 continued his studies with Michael Höltzel in Detmold and in Salzburg at the Mozarteum. In the same year he became solo horn at the Staatstheater Kassel, a position he exchanged 1976 for one with the Munich Philharmonic.
As a chamber musician he played from 1977 to 1991 with the Munich Philharmonic Soloists and from 1991 to 2010 with the Vienna Chamber Ensemble. 1994 was appointed professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and changed to 1998 Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. Since 2007 he is professor at the University of Music in Munich. Between 2006 and 2011 he worked as a visiting professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Aragon in Zaragoza, Spain. Since 2011 he has been a visiting professor at the Conservatorio de las Islas Baleares in Palma de Mallorca, Spain and at the Escuela de Altos Estudios Musicales in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Since 1. September 2007 is solo horn in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
