Biography

Claudius Tanski was born 1959 in Essen. He studied at the Folkwang University in Essen (Prof. Georg Stieglitz), at the University Mozarteum (Prof. Hans Leygraf), in Vienna (Prof. Heinz Medjimorec) and later in London with Alfred Brendel. Tanski has received a number of prizes and awards and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at major international festivals. Concert tours have taken him through Europe, the USA, South America, India, Iran, Japan and Southeast Asia (including Berlin - Konzerthaus, Munich - Herkulessaal, Leipzig - Gewandhaus, Hamburg - Musikhalle, Salzburg - Großes Festspielhaus, Prague - Rudolfinum, Buenos Aires - Teatro Colon , Tokyo - Suntory Hall). He performed as a chamber musician with, among others, Tabea Zimmermann, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Boris Pergamenschikow, Clemens Hagen and Benjamin Schmid, as Lied accompanist with Rita Streich and Eva Lind. Piano Concertos including Yuri Termirkanov, David Stern, Martin Sieghart, Istvan Denes, Heinz Wallberg and George Hanson. For the company MDG (www.mdg.de) Claudius Tanski has recorded more than 20 CDs, which received excellent reviews and awards worldwide "Editor's Choice" of the magazine "Gramophone", five times the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik" and an "Echo Klassik" award in the chamber music section (1997) and two "Pasticcio" prizes of the ORFim January 2006 and Juni 2008. Claudius Tanski is professor for piano at the University Mozarteum Salzburg (Habilitation 2003) .Jury member Seregno (Pozzoli competition) 2001 and 2007, Pinerolo 2008, Taranto 2009 and Genoa 2010.
